U21 Rec Program Launch in 2026/27

Kelowna Minor Hockey is proud to announce an exciting milestone for the upcoming season — we’re aiming to create two U21 Rec teams! 🎉

This is a huge step forward for our Association and a testament to the growth, talent, and dedication of our athletes, coaches and community. With more players continuing their hockey journey at the U21 level, this expansion creates incredible opportunities for development, competition and team camaraderie.

• More roster spots for players to keep playing the game they love as they move out of U18.
• This program is for players that have played Rep and Rec hockey in the past.
• More ice time, more games, more growth.

💪 A Program on the Rise

The addition of U21 reflects the desire from Kelowna Minor Hockey to ensure these player’s have the opportunity to continue playing the game.  Salmon Arm and Kamloops have teams in this program and other Associations are exploring it as well.

🏆 Ready for the Season Ahead

This program is anticipated to have a shared practice slot Monday evenings until 10:45 PM and home and away games on weeknights and weekends, dependent on ice availability.  Having teams in this age group will impact the ability to overage in U18 Recreation, as it is encouraged that players play U21 and only if players are needed to form U18 teams will they be submitted.

This program is dependent on a minimum number of registrations and will be capped at two teams.  Players will need to follow Hockey Canada transfer procedures for anyone not from within our Association.  We will also need coaching committments for these teams as well.  We’re asking players to register early to give the Association the best insights into the commitment level from this age group.
