Kip Skabar

Kip Skabar is a senior infrastructure engineering leader with extensive experience leading complex projects, multidisciplinary teams, and stakeholder groups across North America. He has also served on professional boards and committees, contributing to governance, strategic planning, and business practice reviews that support organizational growth and accountability. As a proud member of a First Nations family, Kip values community engagement, inclusion, and building strong partnerships.

A lifelong hockey player since 1988, Kip continues to play recreational hockey and has coached his children at the U7, U9, and U11 levels. Over the past year, Kip has enjoyed serving on the Kelowna Minor Hockey Association Board and Governance Committee, contributing to initiatives that strengthen the organization and support its long-term success. Through years of coaching, volunteering, and board service, he has developed a strong appreciation for the role minor hockey plays in developing young athletes and building community. Kip is passionate about supporting positive player experiences and helping ensure KMHA remains a strong, inclusive, and sustainable organization for future generations.

Wes Rota

I am seeking a position on the Board of Directors to contribute my dual experience as a dedicated volunteer and a professional leader. Over the past four seasons, I have served as a Coach (ranging from U9 to U13) and as a Division Director for three seasons. These roles have provided me with a 'boots-on-the-ground' understanding of our league’s culture and the logistical needs of our programs.

My professional career in Sales Management equips me with the exact pillars required for effective board governance: People, Process, Policy, and Finance. I am experienced in managing complex budgets and leading teams through evolving challenges. I intend to apply this strategic lens to KMHA to ensure our association remains fiscally sound, operationally efficient, and transparent.
Beyond the rink, community service is a core family value. I have had the honour of raising over $150,000 for BC Children’s Hospital while serving as a Parent Advisor for medical research. My commitment to giving back extends to broader community institutions, including my family's involvement with Ronald McDonald House BC & Yukon and my ongoing volunteer work with the Kelowna Riding Club and Central Okanagan Minor Baseball. Whether I am coaching on the ice or leading a sales team, my focus is always on mentorship, integrity, and building a thriving future for all our players.

Thank you to our board members that have served and their terms have expired.
